It finally caught up with me.
Early-ish in the day yesterday I had my web cam on when my class was working on labs. Theresa pointed out that I looked tired, and I had to admit that I was. the travel, the excitement, the early morning calls with Theresa and Aaron were all catching up with me, so when I received the e-mail cancelling my dinner appointment I was not unpleased.
I had planned to go back to the hotel and drop off my gear. I called Theresa at the office and we spoke for a few minutes, and I told her I would call her when she and Aaron got home. Once that call was done I would go for dinner. In the meantime I was going to lie down for a few minutes. I left a wake-up call for 7:30 just in case, and went dodo.
The 7:30 call woke me but I knew I had a 7:40 call too so I went back to sleep.
At 7:40 I knew I had to get up. As I did Housekeeping let themselves in to turn down my bed, and I scared him silly. He did his thing, and as I was looking at the computer to see if I should sit down, I realized my body just did not want to be awake, and I went back to sleep.
Of course, I did a few calculations in my head... If I woke up at midnight I would not be able to find a restaurant that was open... no matter, I had a couple of oranges in the room, and could always order room service if needed.
If I went to sleep now and woke up at 1:00am I would not fall asleep again, and then would be tired again today. I knew how my body felt and somehow doubted I would wake up at 1.
I wanted to speak to Theresa... but doubted I could expend the energy to dial, let alone vocalize a coherent sentence... and besides, she loves me and would underszzzzzzzzz.....
I did not budge until about 4:30 in the morning. I knew I was up for the duration, but unlike the last few days I had ten hours of sleep, and would be able to face the day.
So in short there is nothing to report about last night in Hong Kong... the city is beautiful, and after the sun came up this morning I took a video of a magnificent hawk circling outside my window... looking for breakfast I suppose. I hope he found what he needed; in 10 hours of sleep I suspect that I did.
