Improve the Performance of Windows Vista Now

If you like so many others have made the jump to Windows Vista then this update is for you. Click here to install Hotfix 941649, which claims to improve the compatibility, reliability, and stability of Windows Vista. It includes the following improvements:

  • Extends the battery life for mobile devices (yay!)
  • Improves the stability of computers using UPSes
  • Improves the reliability of Vista when opening the menu of a startup application
  • Improves the stability of wireless network services (woopee!)
  • Shortens the startup time of Vista by using a better timing structure
  • Shortens the recovery time after Vista experiences a period of inactivity
  • Shortens the recovery time when you try to exit the Photos screen saver
  • Improves the stability of PowerShell

The patch also resolves:

  • A compatibility issue that affects some third-party antivirus packages; and
  • A reliability issue that occurs when a Vista-based computer uses certain network driver configurations.

I've been running it for a couple of days and have seen slight improvements… and any improvement is okay by me!
