Cleveland Rocks!

Some time ago I was asked to submit an on-line profile for a web site.  I did, and adding a small touch of humour at the end, after listing some of my accomplishments and whatnot, I added the line ‘Mitch is not married, has no kids, and has never been to Cleveland.’

Since then I have used a variance of that initial write-up for a plethora of sites, including Microsoft Canada and the Montreal IT Pro Community.  It has often elicited comments, and has reminded people that as serious as I may be, I will always have that sense of humour for which I am known.

Unfortunately as I sit here in Independence, Ohio – a suburb of Cleveland – I realize how complicated it would be to that it back, and I may be forevermore branded the guy who has never been to Cleveland – or worse ‘the guy who lies about never having been to Cleveland’.

I have another great group of students this week.  After three weeks working on other things (or not J) I am back on the road teaching, and true to my experiences to date I have thirty-three IT Pros who are interested in what I have to teach.

Until recently I am ashamed to admit that everything I knew about Cleveland was from either the movie Major League, or from the Drew Carey show.  Now that I am here I am proud to say that it is nowhere near as bad as either of them made it out... and the Indians won last night!

Of real interest is one participant who is interested in helping to form a user group, something strangely lacking in Cleveland.  It is the second large city I have been to that just does not have a local IT Pro group, and it is heart warming to know that there are people trying to remedy that.

If you are in Cleveland this week drop me a line and we’ll grab a drink or a meal – or if you are a local IT Pro interested in participating in a user group let me know and I’ll put you in touch with the right people.

Mitch,

Glad you were able to visit our little spot on the lake!  Thanks for the class, it was very informative and I learned quite a bit.  Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you....(since you now have been to Cleveland! ha ha).
